The joy of snow....

.....is non existent once Snow Days no longer means getting to stay home and play with friends.  I enjoyed the first snow, the second one...it was okay for a while.....I mean I didn't get to enjoy it much because of my hand but oh well.  this snow can go away.  I not just want, I need to ride.  Budgie is getting sour sitting in the field and sharing my attention, so she's been put on the market early as I feel she'd be happier as 'an only child'.  Scout and Laddie are bored to the point we're inventing new games for them to play and Winnie, well she just wants to do something now that the rain rot is gone and she's feeling better, while not 100% back weight wise.

I checked the footing in the arena, as long as she doesn't go bonkers, we're good to go for our first ride here at White Pine!  She's finally free of rot caused sores and scabs and I am soooo grateful to whoever invented M-T-G because that was what finally did it for us.  Her butt is still scrawny but her ribs are less noticeable  and she's at a vet approved weight to begin light riding again!  FINALLY

This winter has been hell on her, she's been out of work since coming here in October.  Her previous owner may have been able to justify riding her with all that rain rot but I just couldn't!  It had caused sores the size of quarters and one the size of a 50cent piece!  I'd walk away from her in the field horrified that someone would see her and turn me in!  But fortunately everyone around here knows how spoiled her little chestnut tushy is and that she's improved a lot.  Her coat is not as dull (managed to get a full winter woolie!!) and she's bright and happy.

Hopefully she'll be as mellow about today's ride as she is everything else!  Takes everything in stride very well and generally just wants to please and be loved on.  With any luck she'll be a mare version of Shadow, who can sit in the field for years and then any idiot can pull him out and ride safely.

Wish us luck!
