Shawn's Gelding Found a New Home
U Rock 'n Ride has some great members - catch up on their updates.
After carefuly screening several emails and numerous phone calls I finally found Frank a new home. His previous owner was unable to keep him any longer because of health issues so we adopted him. My first thought was a 20 year old gelding would be the perfect horse for Shawn. Well turns out that Frank was still very youthful. Shawn was able to ride him wonderfully in the round pen but was to much in the 120x240 arena, to much space and he felt very free.
The young 16 year old girl whom now has him lost her horse last year to colic and had not been interested in another horse until her mom showed her the pictures of Frank. He was a spitting image of her old gelding. They drove down the 1 and 1/2 hours that night and then came back by 8:30 the next morning. Her mother said I knew I should have brought the trailer, she fell in love with him at "Hello."
Shawn and Lauren skipped school for the morning so they could say good-bye. There was a ton of tears that is a part of life that they never get used too. We always seem to have a spot for a new horse or two but it only opens if a horse or two leave now and then. The kids will miss him but we took a ton of pictures so they won't forget him. They will always have good memories of all the horses that we have had over the years.
