tuesday i couldn't have asked for a better day. the sun was shining, and it was about 76 out. we rode out to sam's house so i could ride diamond that afternoon, my neice and her husband dropped me off. it was such a pretty day out, i was hoping diamond was gonna let me get on her.  sam and i got to the 80 (land where we keep diamond, the other horses, and the cows) and the horses came rite up. we haltered diamond and let her eat a little grain before we saddled her up. i managed to get a few good pics in  of her. so we saddled her up, loaded her in the trlr and off we went to the lake to ride her. pretty boy sure was mad that we had taken diamond. he raced to the hay lot and whinnied and whinnied, ran back and forth. we get to where we're going, unload diamond and i get on, hoping she'll let me ride at least for a little while. i start walking her and she's calm. i'm learning how to reign her with 2 hands instead of holding on to the pommel of the saddle. i have both reigns in hands and turn her the way i want her to go with the other hand guiding her neck. well, she responded really well. we worked on that for quite some time, going further and further away frm the truck. sam was taking pics all this time. i was watching her ears, too. they kept going back n forth. but the main thing was that she was calm. i kept doing what i was doing, reigning her the way i wanted her to go and she kept responding to my lead. i was also teaching her to whoa, pulling back gently w/two hands and in a normal tone saying whoa., she did good w/that, too. she actually was acting like she wanted to be ridden. when i stopped she would start to walk again, waiting for my cue on which way she should go. it was the perfect day, tuesday. beautiful out, and diamond acting like the gem she is. i know every ride isn't going to be like this, but at least this one was perfect.
