A Rider's Prayer
Dearest Lord my Creator in Heaven, Give me the strength to guide my horse
Make my hands soft and my head clear, Let my horse understand me and I him. My heart you have blessed with a special love of these animals.
Let me never lose sight of it.
My soul you have gifted with a deep need for them, Let that need never lessen.
Always let my breath catch as the sun gleams on an elegant head. Always may my throat tighten at the sound of a gentle nicker. Let the scent of fresh hay and a new bag of grain be sweet to me. Let the touch of a warm nose on my hand always bring a smile. I adore the joy of a warm day on the farm, the grace and splendor of a running horse. The thunder of its hooves makes my eyes burn and my heart soar. Let it always be so.
Dearest Lord my Creator grant me patience for horses are harnessed wind, and wind can be flighty. Let me not frighten or harm them.Instead show me ways to understand them. Above all, dear Lord , fill my life with them. When I pass from this world, send my soul to no heaven without them. For this love you have given me graces my existence, and I shall cherish it and Praise You for it for all time.

Oh We think Sydney is going to have puppies

We found her From the Abusive Farmer man's Sister-in-law she told us that her mother and her couldn't keep her because they worked to much and couldn't take care of her,So she asked us to take her , well now she e-mailed us and asked how she was doing we e-mailed and told her and even asked her if she was bred she replied back that she had pups and the only male around her was a pom. her mom says if she is by chance she wants a puppy
I thought why would you want a puppy when you couldn't keep mother  I don't think so do they think I have stupid written on my forehead . oh well there loss our gain

What Does PMU stands for ?

What Does PMU stands for ? it satns for pregnant mare's urine, which is used to make hormone replacement drugs for women menopause.. Drugs such as Premarin, PremPro and PremPhase are taken by millions of women every day. PMU mares are subjected to a horrible life. They are kept pregnant and most of all forced to stand in pee lines for most of their lives. A mare normally stays pregnant for 11 months. Six to seven months out of their pregnancy, they are confined to very small stalls and hooked up to pee lines. In the pee line, pouches are attached over their urethra to collect their urine. While attached, the pmu horses cannot turn around, lie down or even groom themselves. Some mares are forced to stand for the entire 6 or 7 months. These mares are usually deprived of water, so that the urine will be as concentrated as possible. The average horse usually lives for about 20-30 years. PMU horses don't usually live this long. Liver and kidney diseases are very common among these horses. When they can no longer stand in the pee lines, or become unable to get pregnant, they are sent to the horse slaughter plants. Wonder What happens to all the foals that are born to these mares? The un-lucky ones, that are not rescued, are sent to slaughter. Most of these colts that go through the slaughter are supposed to be at least six months of age. Some of these foals are sold for their skins. There is a high demand for "pony skin". It's a shame that these poor, innocent creatures have to die so that someone can wear pony skin shoes. I have read horrific stories about the pmu mares, pmu foals and nurse mare foals. They were so bad that you can't even imagine, what it must be like for these poor animals? Living the life they are forced to live, has to be almost un-bearable. here is one of the drugs PMU is used Premarin is the third most prescribed drug in the world, bringing its single maker over 1 billion dollars per year. Because this drug is so prescribed, it requires the operation of around 700 pmu farms. There are several alternatives today to this drug, that are actually safer for women. If the women who take this drug would only switch to one of the alternative drugs, it would eliminate the cruelty of these pmu horses. It has been estimated that for every 100 women who permanently switch from a pmu based hormone replacement to another form, one horse will be saved. how can you help you can Adopt, Donate Foster,Sponsor or Volunteer at a pmu Sanctuary PMU horses can be almost any horse breed; the most productive horses (most urine) are usually bigger breeds like Draft horses or draft crosses so they tend to dominate the total number.

When I got her I was not looking to rescue a horse I was looking for a Quarter Horse I could start on barrels my friend told me that there was 2 Fillies I must look at she told me one was a Quarter Horse paint and there was a Morab well I called and went to look at them the Quarter Horse paint was as wild as any mustang would ever dream of she hated humans you could see it in her eyes I thought to myself something must have happened to her to be so hateful I don't think this horse was for me so I looked at the Moab I was not wanting a morab but it don't hurt to look so I went to look at the Morab the man said she was out back in a stall since she was so ugly and hot blooded that mad me think twice of the man but I went and looked at as he called the ugly lady my first thing I seen the was the most pitiful site putting it into words would be not even a start of it but let me try for starters she was in a small 10x10 stall not to bad you think, I stepped for a closer look she was in sloppy mud feces ankle deep a 5 gal. bucket for her water it was full of worms and you hardly could see the bottom and it looked bad and she had a cattle big feeder the black U shape kind with the red legs that thing took up over half her stall she barely had room to move around I asked do you turn her out he said nope I got her in her when she was about a yearling I haven't touched her since I don't like her she's my wife's horse and she told me she was to much horse for her and I didn't want to mess with her by this time I was so mad at the site of how she was living she was way to thin I asked what he feed her He said if I have time maybe some hay He left to show me the hay he feeds when he was gone the horse came up to me and sniffed me she was so scared she gave me a look of help just then I knew I was going to get a morab and I looked her over the best I could I seen her halter was up on her face to high I looked at it to loosen it and the buckle was starting to embed into her all I can say it was a mess as I was leaving I told him I'll be over tomorrow to get the morab he said I'll let you have them for X amount of money if you get the Morab and the Quarter Horse paint so the next day me, my family and two of my friends help load the two up the morab was so scared but she loaded ok and next was the Quarter Horse paint needless to say it was a mess she flipped over and almost got badly hurt in the trailer all the man said was oh well paints don't scare if you want more white on her just cut her I was sickened by him I was just happy to be heading home I had my vet take a look at the horses and he had to drug the paint and fix a cut she got and with a closer look she had whip marks all over her back all I thought was what did this man do to these horses the vet looked at the morab and said she's got a cancer from the buckle just give her the best life you can and get a foal out of her but she's not good it's to bad the poor thing was so messed up she didn't even know how to eat right she ate out the side of her mouth like eating under a fence I was not going give up on this horse I prayed for her and 3 days later all the cancer was cleared up the vet told me I don't know how but she's as good as new the hair grew back and it was the most softest thing on her she became my friend I'm happy I got her. as for the Quarter Horse paint she tamed down some but she never took to anyone so we re-homed her and she is happier running in a field being her wild self

Long live the Mustangs

Though some people are still trying to support the BLM's handling of the mustangs, there is some evidence that they do not have the horses best interest in mind. Recent documents have been released stating the BLM's plan to destroy wild horses.Their proposed plan to euthanise 30,000 + mustangs I think also speaks for itself. This is the new plan the BLM has for the mustangs please note it is Not just Cloud's herd! The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has announced a plan to zero out 11 wild horse herd areas (HAs) from Nevada?s Ely district. BLM purports to justify the wholesale elimination of the herds by blaming the horses for environmental damage while ignoring livestock impact, past and present, and other factors. For example, no consideration is given to the role that cattle fences -- including those that deprive horses of access to water -- are playing in unnaturally constricting the movements of the horses. The 11 Herd Areas represent 1,386,992 acres and are home to only 620 wild horses, or one horse per 2,237 acres! Yet BLM still means to tell us that in these vast areas wild horses are overpopulated and destroying the ecosystem.the Indians thought it was just fine the way it was. This is what the people who live in the areas see green grass no problems with mustangs yet the BLM says it can't support the horses and they must be removed??? Saying that the Pryor Mountain Mustangs are in danger of starving to death is absolute nonsense. Sure, Montana winters are rough on all animals, and they come out of it a little thin every year, and a few old ones do starve to death, as do all animals in nature, but you can see a lot more horses starving to death in peoples back yards than you will ever see out in the wild. The BLM's continual insistence that the mustang herds are all going to starve to death if they don't intervene and pull these horses off the range is simply not correct. The truth of the matter is if they don't pull the horses off the range there will be no need for managing the mustangs to the extent they do, and there would be a lot less funding going towards the BLM. There is also a plan when they remove almost half of the Pryor Mountain herd of Mustangs in Montana,to administer a still experimental contraceptive drug to the rest of the mares that are captured and released. This will almost guarantee the inbreeding and eventual extinction of this precious herd of wild mustangs. And no this is not fair Haven't we figured it out yet? When it comes to the "human species wants"....."fair", does NOT enter the equation. At the rate the BLM is cleaning out the mustangs there will be no wild horses in the wild in very short order! http://www.thecloudfoundation.org/6.09pressreleases.html and I also hear The San Diego zoo just placed a wild mustang on exhibit in their zoo. I fear that this does not bode well for the future of our countries wild horses. Do they really think this will fix everything with all that said I also want to say I am not against rounding up "some" of the herds every so often for Adoption to keep the numbers down so that there is forage But we need to keep our history of our American west and Native American heritage "Long live the Mustangs"
