Training
For the Rider
Back in the Saddle
Isn't it crazy how it's harder to get back on some horses more than others? When I did the hunter/jumper thing it felt like I fell off almost every ride. I bounced better in my teens. Not so much today.
Sounds like StormyGal's been riding for some time but she got bucked off recently and it has her a bit spooked. She's a little afraid to ride this particular horse now. And it sounds like her horse is feeling that because he's acting unsure of himself, especially with his footing. Basically, her confidence “got shookâ€. So been there!
She's shouting out and asking if it's best to start completely over and work on him from the ground up or just work on getting back in the saddle. Go to the forum StormyGal started and weigh in to help her out. Feel free to share your own bucked off stories either by commenting below or posting in StormyGal's Forum! She's also blogging. Check out her blogs under What Rocks, Blog and Gettin' Back in the Saddle (parts 1 & 2).
StormyGal – keep at it. U Rock ‘n Ride's got your back and is rooting for you all the way.
See It – Do It!

Working with horses is time intensive with much of the work being done without a lot of help. Check out Top Ten Timesavers in this month's Stable Management (the link will open in a new window)!

mckenzie12back on!! She was bucking wild and I Couldn't even
get to her to settle her down!!
That day was the scariest day of my life!
But it was also the saddest day of my life,My daddy wanted me to sale her,He said I needed a more calm horse.
I was fine when she left, but later that noght I wrote a whole page about her,and went and crawled up in my daddy's lap, and cried my heart out.
Her name was Sadie.I named her that and thought it was perfect for her. I LOVE YOU SADIE!!!!!!!!!! !

BriteStarI have a had many horses in my days... like 5 I guess of my own and several I cared for up to 7-10 at a time. LOVE HORSES!!! But like the rest of you in your 30's... I don't bounce so well either! But I have a young Mare just going under saddle and I have yet to stick my butt in that saddle. Read my blog! I'm documenting all the efforts put into her from beginning on going through her training process.
Currently she's at a training facility for the next 30 days, and possibly will be there longer. We did all the ground work, all the breaking (My friend Candy and myself) and Candy was braver than I. She was riding Star at a walk, trot and almost a canter. But then she started kicking out, and having issues. Rather than letting her sense our fear of being thrown... This is a mental block we both have, yet keep on plugging along. We needed to get Star over this attitude problem. I believe that this will get this horse over the hump where our fears in the saddle will dissipate so the horse can relax too! She feels what we do. Try to control it the best we can... and get back on even if it's not YOU! Get a friend to board that horse, then get back on! If you still feel unnerved get some formal assistance with your horse like I did... or get a new one.
