What's your typical day like?
My youngest daughter wakes me up by 7:30 am at the latest. My other daughter wakes up around 9 am. I try to get to play with the horses at least 3 times a week during the winter. The summer will change that and I will be out there more! I feed my daughters and take care of the dogs and fish in the morning. I try to clean in the mornings but most of the time I'm on the computer ‘til my oldest wakes up. I spend my time outside when it’s nice during the day doing different things or just letting my daughters play with the dogs. I have a pretty boring day routine unless I am with the horses or camping or hunting.
How did you first find horses... or did they find you?
I think they found me cuz I was born on a cattle ranch in Somerset, Colorado! My dad didn’t like horses but let us ride the ranch horses (he rode the 4-wheelers). They would sit me up on the horses until I was old enough to ride by myself! When I was old enough I would help gather the cows on the ranch. It was a blast! When I was a teenager we quit working on ranches and started up a pool hall. After High School I got my first horses! I had them for about a year before I had to move up here to Colorado. I sold them and came up here. I rode my mom’s horses for awhile but finally found the horses that I now have last August! I made a promise that as long as I can help it my daughters will always have a horse for as long as they want one.
Favorite Horse Story?
I have a lot of stories that are memorable! I remember me and my sister when we were very young trying to bring in a bull (later we found out it was hurt) by ourselves. We never got him brought in cuz they had to tranq him because of his leg. At that ranch we would ride all over by ourselves - just us and the horses. We had races between me and my sister and rode to the lodge and through ponds and streams. We had hundreds of acres to go wherever we wanted to go! It was up in the mountains and was so beautiful! I really miss that place. When I got my first gelding (we were inseparable) we use to ride in the river! That was fun especially when the minnows would tickle him and he would prance in place.
If you could change one thing about the horse industry what would it be?
There are lots of things I would change but I know every one of them would have consequences. I guess if I had to pick one it would be the penalty for abusing horses. Maybe there would be less unwanted or abused horses if they had harsher penalties!
Other than horses what else do you like to do?
I like hunting (all animals), camping, fishing, shooting my guns, playing with my daughters and dogs! I enjoy the outdoors and hate to clean the house (I need a maid)! I play pool, and love to go to the lake (as long as I am not swimming). I love to get dirty and love to drive my BIG blue truck and bronco!
Is there significance to your avatar?
Not really it was the only descent picture I had of myself that I could upload. It was my senior picture so it was almost 10 years ago. My senior year is when I found myself looking for my dream horse and hoping and saving for it.
Anything else we should know about you?
I am an easy going girl that doesn’t get mad easily. I have been to nationals for billiards three years in a row. One time I had a cast on and placed 9th. I try to please more people than myself which is starting to change! I was born in Colorado but lived in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and up here! I have been to the oceans in New York, Texas, Florida, and California. I moved around a lot growing up. I am scared of water when I can’t touch the bottom! I do love to go out on a boat though and fish on the lake just as long as I don’t have to swim in it! I am a very honest person so if you want to know more you can ask.
